At East Butler, we are proud to be an Act-Belong-Commit (ABC) School. Act-Belong-Commit is a world first program developed by Curtin University that encourages everyone to take action to protect and strengthen their own mental health and wellbeing.

We encourage and support all our student's to be mentally healthy, using the ABC ethos.

Mrs Barter said, “At East Butler Primary School we have lots of mentally healthy activities and events on offer that tie into the Act-Belong-Commit ethos that students, parents, school staff and the wider community can get involved in. We have weekly breakfast club, extra activities during recess and lunch as well as, other fun dress up days, such as 'R U OK Day' are available to boost the mental wellbeing of our whole school community.”

“By promoting Act-Belong-Commit through Mental Health Week, it will help to build individual resilience against developing mental health problems. Mentally healthy students also have better academic performance, higher attendance rates and participate in less risk-taking behaviours,” Mrs Mauchien added.

The Act-Belong-Commit campaign prescribes being active, building a sense of belonging and having a sense of meaning and purpose in life for staying mentally healthy.
